Understanding Graduate Management Aptitude Test – GMAT

Graduate Management Aptitude Test – GMAT

Countries that accept GMAT includes but not limited to; USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, France Etc. GMAT is mainly required to pursue your MBA Programmes.

 

GMAT stands for Graduate Management Aptitude Test and it is conducted by Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). It is a national level examination which aims at providing admission to the eligible candidates in MBA programmes offered at various institutions in USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, France, India etc. The exam will be conducted through center based or online remote proctored modes.

The GMAT 2023 is conducted multiple times a year. There is no specific date for the GMAT 2023 exam. The candidates are to choose their desired exam date while filling the application form online. The registration can be done anytime throughout the year. Candidates can choose their exam date & mode as per their ease.

Basic Summary Information about GMAT Test

  1. There is age limit for the exam, the applicant must have attained 18 years of age before applying for the GMAT exam
  2. Qualifying Exam: The Applicant must have obtained and passed a graduate degree in any stream from a recognized university or institution.
  3. Method of Writing: The GMAT test is conducted through online centers and also through remote proctored mode.
  4. The total time duration for the exam is 3 hours
  5. It is organized throughout the year, though no specific writing time. You are simply to choose your desired test date during your registration
  6. The GMAT exam comprised of 4 separately timed sections

 

Test Sections of the GMAT Exam and their details

The GMAT exam is structured into the following modules;

  1. Analytical Writing Assessment: The essence of this section is to evaluate and assess a candidates’ ability to communicate his/her ideas in writing. This is for 30 minutes and you have just one question to answer, it is scored in 0-6 in 0.5 increment.
  2. Integrated Reasoning: This section determines a test taker’s capableness in combining information from different sources like tables, charts and text and thereafter derived sensible conclusion or and information from such integration of data. It is for 30 minutes, to answer 12 questions, it is scored in 1-8 marks and in 1.0 increment
  3. Quantitative Reasoning/Aptitude: Data sufficiency and problem solving are the two (2) question types in the Quantitative Aptitude. The questions asked here are usually from Geometry, algebra, Linear Equations. Here, you have 62 minutes to answer about 31 questions. It is scored in 6-51 marks in 1.0 increment.
  4. Verbal Reasoning/Ability: The Verbal Reasoning section guesstimate your ability to read and analyze complex text and critically break-down its arguments. Here, you have 65 minutes to answer 36 questions. It is scored in 6-51 marks in 1.0 increments.

GMAT Admit Card

This card will be given to you after registration for the Exam, you are to print it out and go to the exam center on the exam day with it and your International Passport; without these documents you will not be allowed to write the exam. Again, the Admit card contains everything you need to know about the GMAT exam. This information includes the exam date, time, location and all the necessary things you are take along with you to the exam on the exam date.

GMAT Result

The result will be available online your profile account page, which you can view by logging in with your username and password. Once the GMAT exam is over, candidates will be presented with tentative score which is an unofficial score of the exam.

The score will contain the 5 scores which are sections Analytical Writing Assessment, Verbal, Reasoning, and Quantitative section score along with total score.

The GMAT result can be viewed till 20 days after the exam will be attempted. The total score and the percentile along with the details of the candidates will be mentioned on the scorecard of GMAT.
