Things that attract Marks During the speaking sessions

• Pronunciation: The examiner listen to mark how you pronounce words
• Fluency: whether you stammers or flow unhindered as you speak earns you mark
• Use of Organizers (like firstly, finally, conclusively etc.)
• Grammar and Accuracy: whether you use your present, past, past participles and other tenses well.
• Your comportment: this also earn you mark so don’t panic during the discussion session.
• Speak naturally: speak normal as well as possible,

Things to do as you answer your questions

• Be confident: don’t be nervous, make eye-contact, present yourself with confidence, don’t look down, look at your fingers and turn away your face while talking, look at the person you are talking with
• Be friendly: your examiner is not your enemy, be friendly as you talk with him/her, smile and talk, don’t frown.
• Show Excitement: speaking with excitement in your voice, you are not quarrelling with him
• Vocabulary: don’t use easy, common and boring words, use bigger words, for example instead using friends repeatedly use acquaintances, instead saying “I like” use “I enjoy, I really love, I prefer etc.” I like is too common!
• Expand your answers: you cannot give a yes or no kind of answer; else the examiner won’t be able to judge your English language. g. if you asked where are you from? Don’t just say “I am from Anambra State. Try expand it
• Take some topics above and practice your responses.
