Understanding the ielts speaking test
The Speaking test is usually the first test on the first day of the IELTS examinations. The IELTS speaking test has a duration of 11-14 minutes and four parts. It is takes the shape of an interview; the test taker sits before the examiner to answer predetermined questions. The Speaking test is the same for the Academic and the general IELTS categories of the test.
Introduction and interview
This section will last for 4-5 minutes. The examiner will introduce him /herself, ask you to introduce yourself and confirm your identity thereafter. The examiner will ask you questions of general interests, on familiar topics, e.g. he/she can ask about Your Family, Your work, Education, Hometown, Weather, Home, Wedding, Travel, Computers, Internet, Emails, Friend, Place, Smoking, hobbies, films etc. and interests. This section should help you relax and talk naturally.
