As people rely more and more on technology to solve problems the ability of humans to think for themselves will surely deteriorate
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might and might not hold true and explain how this consideration shape your position.
Since the advent of the computer technology, inventions have continuously been on the rise, it is therefore not an exaggeration when Albert Einstein said “human life will be meaningless without the sustenance of Technology”. Interestingly; we have moved from the archaic era of man’s dark intelligence to modernization, from modernization to post modernization, third industrial revolution and now this most recent 4th industrial revolution-all these stages were necessitated and made possible by the inventions of amazing technology by the human mind. This is why I strongly disagree that as people rely more and more on technology to solve problems the ability of humans to think for themselves will depreciate. Consequent on the above, I will present my reasoning on the afore mentioned subject matter, on three self-elucidating points.
Advancement in any technology is a product of the progress in the usage of the human mind. Right from ancient times; problems have always proceeded solutions. When humans are confronted with overwhelming problems then they put on their thinking cap which in most cases will result in the development of new technology to handle such challenge (s). You will remember that the invention of the first computer called “ENIAC” was birthed from man’s inability to progressively engage the usage of pebbles, stones and fingers for basic mathematics. Therefore, it will be an abysmal for anyone to think that the more one uses technology which in first instance is his handiwork will adversely lead to his inability to think again; it is an erroneously assumptions that holds no water.
Secondly, all discoveries leading to invention of new technology is usually based on tireless research carried out by individuals who engages their minds in such activities. Researches are carried out by people with sane minds, those who in the course of exploring and operating existing technology unravel new hypothesis-a spark of new technology. It will hereafter be of compelling arguments for or against that the human minds connects with future inventions and possibilities as they engage the in the syntax of the already known technology. You cannot devoice human minds from improvement on existing technology and for anyone to assume that accessing the features and facilities of such technology to ease one’s effort will depreciate his thinking power is obviously unwise, untrue and should be thrown into the ocean.
Can one say that because a child uses a calculator to aid his / her elementary mathematics will prevent him/her from being able to carry out calculation without the usage of such a device when the need arises? Clearly that cannot survive more than the length of a hair’s breadth. It is arguable therefore that as people implore the assistance of technology to aid their day-to-day activities from domestic chores to official duties; the tendencies that they become complaisant might arise. This figment of man’s imagination is not strong enough to compel even the smallest minds into believing that that will result in depreciating man’s thinking ability.
